Gentoo Network Appliance for WRAP Single Board Computers

Abstract
The nice GNAP is a great way to be able to use cutting edge Linux features quickly. The great www.pcengines.ch WRAP board has it's own special needs and the GNAP can be customized for it. Here I will try to explain in detail what I did to get GNAP on WRAP going.

We have found that for general purpose use GNAP is fine, but for specific embedded application development another approach is needed. Contact us for beta testing our own wifiSDK CF linux distro. Please help support this site by visiting our sponsors and the other related sites below.

M0n0wall, LEAF, Locust and many other solutions were looked at. Each one has strong points, but to us, GNAP was very user friendly --from download to working CF was 15mins, repeatable, all inclusive modern linux kernel development environment, and finally it "works."
Gentoo linux takes time to install, but it is worth the trouble. Once you have a stable working system avoid the Gentoo syndrome of feeling like you need to "emerge" everything all the time. Business and service systems need stability not "my PC is now 2% faster after compiling with...and it only took 3 days!."
The WRAP board was chosen by our clients over the nice Soekris items, there are many reasons why the Swiss designed WRAP is the choice single computer board for APs and other WiFi applications.

Here are our test/devlopment notes as promised:
